I am putting up guttering at the house and want to include one spout location to catch the rain water for later watering. Does anyone know of a place where I can buy a sutitable rain barrel? I would like a plastic one with a lid and a spout at the bottom to attach a garden hose. Prefer Ft Worth or Parker/Tarrant county locations as we are near Weatherford, but if need be can go further out. Thanks! Don |

Do a simple internet search on rainbarrels and you can find many different styles, sizes, costs and locations. |

I went to a class offered by the City of Grand Prairie a while back. The class went over information about rainwater harvesting and we then made our own rainbarrel. The barrel is a 55 gallon plastic barrel that can be found at feed and grain stores. Make sure it is a food grade barrel. The teacher drilled a hole in it for us to put a spout. It was a plastic hose bib that was attached to a PVC piece with threads on it. It simply screwed in and we used silicone seal around it to seal it. It is amazing how fast the barrel fills up. I had a one inch rain and it was fillled up halfway. With the rains from last week, it was overflowing. The class was really good and it only costs $30 which covered the price of the rainbarrel. |

Remember that any item purchased for the purpose of rainwater harvesting does not require sales tax. http://www.twdb.state.tx.us/publication ... dition.pdf |
