Post subject:  Trees for heavy clay soil?

I'm just starting to build a house in Waco, and was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a tree that will do well in heavy clay soil. I'm just beginning my search, so all suggestions, pros, and cons are welcome. I would also welcome suggestions for planting in this type of soil.

Thanks!

I'd Pick Burr Oak, Durand Oak, Texas or Shumard Red Oak, Shatung Maple, Texas Ash, White Ash, and if you have a shady spot, there's a number of Japanese Maples that would be gorgeous.

Thanks!
A friend told me about the bigtooth Maple. Would that do well? From what I have read, it does well in most soils, but I'm not sure about clay.

Hey- sorry took a bit to get back,

Yes, big toothed Maple is a good one for your area and in that soil.

It's a Texas native that has no problems with the soil and weather hereabouts.
