One thing about this drought phase is that you see what trees are tough enough to endure it. As far my eyes have seen, the native trees that have no signs of wilting of leaves and look the same 4 months ago are as follows: native junipers(ash junipers and eastern redcedars) post oaks live oaks blackjack oaks bur oaks shumard and Texas red oaks chinkapin oaks lacey oaks pecans And most of the trees I mentioned are around northwest of Ft Worth( Lake Worth/Azle) old country area. None of my trees have suffered and I've watered far less than we're allowed to. Even my Birch is doing fine, minimal leaf loss. I've lost pretty much all my apples this year though. Between not having enough water to water them well and the birds in their desperation for moisture pecking them all, they're ruined. |
