Post subject:  Hosta root-in-a-bag help

I just bought a box of hosta roots in a bag at Costco. Seems a very cost effective way to buy a lot of hostas, but I have never planted a dry root before. Are there any special techniques I should employee to increase the successful planting and growth of these hosta roots? I have seen mixed results for success of buying and growing plants like this on other garden forums, but none of the forums are for organic gardeners. Also, what kind of growth should I expect in the first season?

Soak the roots in water with Garrett Juice added at 1 oz. per gallon. Plant them in well prepared beds with lots of compost rock minerals and molasses. They need a filtered light or shady location and the regular use of garlic to keep the slugs and snails away. The Sluggo products are also good to have when growing hostas. Oh yes, and next time shop at the independent garden centers for better plants and advice.
