HELP! About a year and a half ago we transplanted a fairly large Pink Japanese Magnolia. Actually we saved it from being cut down. It was absolutely gorgeous when we dug up the tree. It stands about 9' tall. Well things have not gone really well with the transplant. The tree has suffered from dying limbs and we feel now needs to be pruned in order for it to flourish and recover from its trauma. The dead limbs have not fallen off, but we have lost about 1/2 of this tree. Can a magnolia be pruned? What is the best time of year? What is the best way to prune?
