We missed our spring window for planting, what would you recommend for veggies in the heat of summer? we planted okra, broccoli, tomatoes, swiss chard, radish and cucumber from seed on May 7 and are realizing they probably won't do well as temperatures hit 100. We are using a 4 x 8 foot raised screened garden. Suggestions are appreciated.

I recently planted transplant vegetables, and they are finally beginning to take off. There is a lot more stress on such young plants, as the heat comes on.

Once mine got their roots well established they have really been looking to have some promise.

A good watering regime, and additives such as Medina Plus, and Thrive have seemed to help my plantings. Anything you can do to help them get through the initial stress (as young plants), will help tremendously.

All the veggies you mentioned are cole crops and should be planted in the fall. Now is the time for peppers, beans, melons, okra, squashes, eggplants etc. Check out the links I provided for some planting dates to keep in mind.
