Fabulous Trees Slideshow
The Fabulous Trees Slideshow is a collection of photos assembled from many years of work and travel.
Of the many fabulous in the world some of the most interesting are in Texas. Knowing about them helps get people excited about planting new trees by seeing their unbelievable potential. They are not only interesting, even trilling, but can help with decisions about your own trees. Rather than dropping everything to travel the world to see all the fabulous trees I know about, you can experience them without leaving your house.
There are two ways to experience these trees. The Dirt Doctor organization has website Library entries that are the best places to find the most details, but there is an easier way to see the basic facts and the most photographs of these great trees. It's the Fabulous Trees Slideshow. View it free at the top right corner of dirtdoctor.com (and in this topic, below). I hope you enjoy it – I still do every time I re-see it. Here you will see the national champion pecan, the state champion ginkgo, largest kapok in Costa Rico, largest Montezuma cypress (probably the largest tree) in the world, the oldest trees in the world and even the Nellie Climbing Tree and much more.
Not only can you see the greatest trees in the world, many that you can grow here in north Texas and other parts of the country, but the slide show also shows the planting and management details that I have discovered to be the most successful and cost effective.

Montezuma cypress—largest tree in the world
Pecan National Champion
Our web site Library entries give even more details about the trees, including the ones that will grow here in in north Texas - including the National champion pecan tree in Weatherford. I have helped two separate owners with this fabulous tree since 2001. It is arguably about 850 years old and quite healthy for its age and the weather abuse it has endured.
Garrett Ginkgo—fastest growing ginkgo
The Garrett Ginkgo is special because of its unusually fast growth. The state champion ginkgo is in New Boston, Texas.
The Texas champion Chinese pistache is in Dallas on Armstrong Parkway just off Turtle Creek Blvd.

Dallas' Italian stone pine champ
The easiest to grow pine for north Texas is Italian stone pine. The largest Italian stone pine in Dallas is on Lemon Ave. Across from the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field Airport.
The list of great trees is long, but there's one I just met. It's the national champion alligator juniper in Prescott Arizona. It's the tree saved by the elite firemen who died in the fire just a week later.

Is there a book on this fabulous tree subject? Yes – and maybe I'll have time to finish it someday. In the meantime enjoy our electronic review of theses incredible trees that can awe, inspire, and help with the selection, planting, management and maintenance of the trees at your place.
