SPCA Pet Adoption, June 28, 2020

Special Announcement:

In an effort to reduce the potential for COVID-19 to spread to more people via gatherings of people and protect the health and well-being of the animals in our care, our staff and volunteers, as well as our community, the SPCA of Texas is closing our shelters, clinics, mobile adoption and mobile wellness events to the public until further notice. Adoptions are by appointment only.

Looking for a new home: Nado

Meet Nado, a 3-year-old, male Hound mix. He has a smooth, tan colored coat with a hint of cream near his mouth. His big, brown eyes plead for love and are sure to steal your heart! He came to the SPCA of Texas from a cruelty case and has overcome many of his fears. He is sweet and timid and loves a good belly rub. He is looking for a calm, quiet environment and a fenced yard. New situations and busy places can be a little much for him so having his own place away from others is best. Having another friendly dog in the home who can show Nado the ropes would be great, but kids under age 12 could make him nervous. He recently completed heart worm treatment and requires exercise restriction until July 21. He will need to take it easy and his home shouldn’t have too many stairs; he probably would enjoy the couch potato life. If you’re looking for a quiet gentleman to share your couch with, he’s the one for you! Nado is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet him.

Adoptions will be available by appointment only every Thursday and Saturday. Adoption counseling will be done virtually, and curb-side pickups will be offered whenever possible so that in-person meet and greets can be kept to a minimum. Adopters will need to submit an adoption inquiry form in order to begin the tele-adoption process and schedule an appointment to complete the adoption.

From previous features - Twinky, Joshua, FrecklesWinnie, McGunner, Blake, Nala Bear, and Chunk are still waiting for their forever homes.

Please browse our available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.

Still looking for a new home: Twinky

Meet Twinky, a 10-year-old female, medium-sized Terrier. She has short dark brown hair and the cutest face with tan cheeks and big brown eyes. She’s on the small side, but she has a lot of love to give! She was pretty nervous when she first arrived at the shelter, but has made a lot of progress and is now ready to find her forever home. She likes snacks and likes to be petted. She gets a little nervous, but if you go slow with her, you’ll see how much she likes attention. She is still working on her leash-walking skills, so her adopter should take this into consideration if they live in an apartment. She would do best in calm home with children over age 12 so that she doesn’t get overwhelmed. If you’re looking for a dog with lots of love to give, she’s the one for you! Twinky is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet her.

Still looking for a new home: Joshua

Meet Joshua, a 9-year-old, male Labrador mix weighing 41-pounds. He has a smooth, reddish-tan colored coat with a hint of cream on his muzzle and large, floppy ears. His big, brown eyes plead for love and are sure to steal your heart! He's a sweet, gentle guy who can be shy around new people due to his past. He’s working on gaining his confidence around strangers, and is loving all of the attention he gets at the SPCA of Texas. He is looking for a patient, understanding family who will continue to let him learn the ropes of being a pet in a home. In return, he’ll be sure to give you all the love you could ever need. If you're looking for a quiet gentleman to curl up and read books with, he’s the one for you! Joshua is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet him.

Still looking for a new home: Freckles

Meet Freckles, an 11-year-old, female Shepherd mix weighing 53-pounds. She has a short, smooth coat that is mostly white with touches of charcoal on her eyes and little gray freckles on her face – hence her name! With perky triangle ears, brown eyes and a curled tail, she’s quite the cute little lady. She can be shy around new people, but has gained a lot of confidence since coming to the SPCA of Texas. She’s working on learning to walk on a leash, trusting people and making friends with other dogs. She would love a calm, quiet home where she can continue building her trust with people and take it easy. She’s sweet, gentle and affectionate once she gets to know you, and will be a loyal and loving girl to anyone who gives her time to settle in. If you’re looking for an older lady to enjoy quiet time with, she’s the one for you! Freckles is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet her.

Still looking for a new home: Winnie

Meet Winnie, an 8-year-old, male Labrador Retriever mix dog weighing 52-pounds. He has a short, smooth tan coat, semi-perky ears and soulful brown eyes. Little bits of white on his muzzle give away his age, but he’s still one handsome fellow! He's super sweet, gentle and easygoing. He loves attention from people, and adores being petted and going for slow walks. He can be a little timid at time, but he warms up to new people quickly – especially if they have treats! He may be a senior, but he still likes to go outside and play. He also enjoys nap time and taking it easy. His great personality is sure to steal your heart the moment you meet him. If you’re looking for a sweet senior to snuggle with, he’s the one for you! Winnie is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet him.

Still looking for a new home: McGunner (from McKinney)

Meet McGunner, a 2½-years-old, male Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix dog weighing 92-pounds. He’s a large, loving boy looking for a home of his own. He has a cream colored coat with a large white stripe down his chest and big, floppy ears. He’s a sweet, goofy boy who loves attention from people. He would do best in a home with a nice fenced yard to play in and a calm house to take it easy in. He enjoys time with adults and older children, nap time and being loved on. He’s smart, too, and knows how to sit, shake and come on command. If you’re looking for a gentle, calm boy to spend time with, he’s the one for you! McGunner is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney. Please visit visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet him.

Still looking for a new home: Blake

Meet Blake, an 8-year-old, male Labrador Retriever mix dog weighing 52-pounds. He's a handsome, solid black gentleman with big brown eyes and floppy ears. He's smart, a bit mischievous and full of love! He's the zen master . . . for the most part. While he loves spending my day hogging the couch or recliner, he can also get some crazy energy when he's in the mood. He gets along with children, and enjoys playing with other large dogs. He knows how to sit and stay on command, and he's also crate and leash trained! If you're looking for a cool senior dog to snooze on the couch with, he's the one for you! To learn more about Blake (in foster) and begin the adoption process, please visit spca.org/dogadopt.

Still looking for a new home: Nala Bear

Meet Nala Bear, a 10-years-old, female Rottweiler mix dog weighing 81-pounds. She’s a big, beautiful girl looking for a laid-back home. She has a sleek, mostly black coat with large tan patches on her neck and legs, and little tan “eyebrows” above her eyes. She’s a sweet, shy gal who enjoys quite time and taking it easy. She would love a nice, calm home where she can get to know her new family and spend her days taking naps and going for walks. She would do best in a home with adults only, and she would prefer to be the only pup. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving lady, she’s the one for you! To learn more about Nala Bear and begin the adoption process, please visit spca.org/dogadopt.

Still looking for a new home: Chunk

Meet Chunk, a 2 ½-year-old, male Pit Bull mix. He’s a lovable and loyal guy looking for some humans to be best buddies with. His previous owner said he knows several commands (if you pay him in treats), rides well in the car, and is house trained. He is pretty spoiled by the staff at the shelter and they usually let him hang out with them in their office! He loves tennis balls! Chasing them, chewing them- they're just so much fun. If getting attention is considered a hobby, it's definitely his! Because he LOVES people, hanging out with the humans is how he likes to spend most of his time. In foster now, he'll need a home with a private, securely fenced yard and adults only please! He would also do best as the only pet in the home, but he promises he'll bring all the love you'll need! Potential adopters are able to take him on a test drive through a trial adoption! Meet and greets are by appointment only, so contact Foster@spca.org to schedule.

Thank you for your support!
