SPCA Pet Adoption, June 22, 2017

From previous features: Canelo, Estella and Lottie are still waiting for their forever homes.

Here is this week’s dog from McKinney: Jasmine

Meet Jasmine, a 6-year-old, chocolate and white Chihuahua mix weighing 8-pounds. She was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas on May 10 because she was a little nervous in the home. She is a bit of a shy girl, but she’s a total doll once she warms up to you. She’s a relaxed, loving little lap dog with people she’s close to. If you sit down in her kennel, she will jump in your lap after a couple of minutes and sniff your face. Petting is her obsession and she cab never get enough belly rubs. She does good with other small dogs, so if you have a dog at home, bring them to meet her and see if they get along. She loves to walk and is easy to walk. If you’re looking for a sweet and gentle little lady, she’s the one for you! Jasmine has been spayed, microchipped and has received her age-appropriate vaccinations. She is heartworm positive, but thanks to generous donors, her treatment will be FREE at any Metroplex-area VCA Animal Hospital once she’s adopted. Her adoption fee is only $25, so please come and visit her. You won’t be disappointed! #153451

Jasmine is waiting for you at the SPCA of Texas' Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney at 8411 Stacy Road. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and noon to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Regular adoption fees are $250 for puppies, $125 for adult dogs 6 months or older and kittens 0-6 months, $75 for adult cats 6 months or older and $50 for senior dogs or cats 7 years or older and VIP dogs and cats (available for adoption for 30 days or more.) Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetPlan, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a free year-long subscription to Activ4Pets, a rabies tag and a free leash. Call 214-742-SPCA (7722) or visit today.

Still waiting for a home:  Canelo

Meet Canelo, a reserved 4-year-old Shepherd mx with a red-and-black coat that has an affinity for gentle strokes. He could lie all day under a caress. See, he’s a laidback guy with just a hint of alertness. He prefers to keep watch outside, as he never really understood the appeal of being cooped up inside a house. He suggests a tall, sturdy fence to keep unwelcome visitors out and, well, to keep him in. You see, sometimes, he needs a little excitement to keep his mind sharp, and he likes to test the limits of containment facilities. He enjoys soft petting, spending time outside in the yard and socializing with other dogs. He was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas on March 4th. The family had to set priorities, all for the best of everyone's health, and it came to be that he had to move on. Speaking of health, he must disclose that he is heartworm positive. Yes, even a serious guy like him isn't completely invulnerable. The SPCA of Texas is treating this minor setback with care, and if you're planning to take him along, his medication is free for you. Fortunately, he’s up to date with the rest of his medical needs: he has been neutered, microchipped and has received all of his age-appropriate vaccinations. He and his buddy, Bruno, are partners in this being-a-dog business. If you like him, you'll like Bruno. They hope to continue patrolling together, paw-in-paw. His adoption fee is $25, so come meet him today! #153126

Canelo is waiting for you at the SPCA of Texas' Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas at 2400 Lone Star Drive near I-30 and Hampton Road.

Still waiting for a home:  Estella

Meet Estella, who is always eager to play! She’s a 3-year-old, grey American Pit Bull mix weighing 67-pounds. She was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas on March 3 because she was a little too active for her previous owner. She’s looking for a strong friend who will roughhouse with her. You’ll need lots of space and lots of muscle. If she tires you out, you can calm her down by stroking her sides, and she’ll lean against your legs and take a breather with you. Sounds good? She gets pretty excited around cats, so she'd do best in a home without any. If you have any other dogs, please bring them to meet her so you can see if they get along. Estella has been spayed, microchipped and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $95, so come meet her and test your endurance! #147505

Still waiting for a home:  Lottie

Meet Lottie, a 4-year old Shepherd mix weighing 36-pounds. She may be shy when you first meet, but give me a treat or rub her belly and you can be best friends! She came to the SPCA of Texas in November when she was rescued from cruelty. She hasn't had an easy life so far, and she’s still learning how to trust people. The nice staff and volunteers here have been so nice to her, and have helped her overcome some of my shyness. She enjoys going for walks and is even house trained, though it may take her a few tries to get the routine of my new home. She likes playing with other dogs too, so if you have another dog, bring them to meet her to see if they make a good match. She would do best in a family without children under 10 as she sometimes gets frightened but she’s working on being brave! Lottie has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her age-appropriate vaccinations. Plus, her adoption fee includes 30-days of PetHealth pet insurance from PetPlan, and a free wellness visit (within 14 days) at any Metroplex-area VCA Animal Hospital. Please come meet her today. She promises to love you for the rest of her days. #150795
