SPCA Pet Adoption, July 2, 2020

Special Announcement:

In an effort to reduce the potential for COVID-19 to spread to more people via gatherings of people and protect the health and well-being of the animals in our care, our staff and volunteers, as well as our community, the SPCA of Texas is closing our shelters, clinics, mobile adoption and mobile wellness events to the public until further notice. Adoptions are by appointment only.

Looking for a new home: Koi

Meet Koi, a 5½-year-old, medium-sized mixed breed dog. She has the prettiest long milk-chocolate colored coat with the sweetest brown eyes that plead for love and are sure to steal your heart! She came to the SPCA of Texas through a cruelty case and has been working on building her confidence ever since. She has come a long way, but still needs work on learning to trust people and being comfortable in her surroundings. She loves other dogs and is confident when she is with them, so having another dog in the home is ideal for her. She needs a calm, quiet home without kids and with a securely fenced yard, as she hasn’t gotten the hang of leash walking just yet. She recently completed heartworm treatment and is on exercise restriction; however, this restriction ends July 6 and she’ll be ready to play in your yard. Potential adopters can take Koi on a test drive through a trial adoption. If you’re looking for a sweet dog to share your home with, she’s the dog for you! Koi is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet her.

Adoptions will be available by appointment only every Thursday and Saturday. Adoption counseling will be done virtually, and curb-side pickups will be offered whenever possible so that in-person meet and greets can be kept to a minimum. Adopters will need to submit an adoption inquiry form in order to begin the tele-adoption process and schedule an appointment to complete the adoption.

From previous features - Great news! It looks like Nado, BlakeMcGunner and Nala Bear were adopted!!! Twinky, Joshua, Freckles, Winnie, and Chunk are still waiting for their forever homes.

Still looking for a new home: Twinky

Meet Twinky, a 10-year-old female, medium-sized Terrier. She has short dark brown hair and the cutest face with tan cheeks and big brown eyes. She’s on the small side, but she has a lot of love to give! She was pretty nervous when she first arrived at the shelter, but has made a lot of progress and is now ready to find her forever home. She likes snacks and likes to be petted. She gets a little nervous, but if you go slow with her, you’ll see how much she likes attention. She is still working on her leash-walking skills, so her adopter should take this into consideration if they live in an apartment. She would do best in calm home with children over age 12 so that she doesn’t get overwhelmed. If you’re looking for a dog with lots of love to give, she’s the one for you! Twinky is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet her.

Still looking for a new home: Joshua

Meet Joshua, a 9-year-old, male Labrador mix weighing 41-pounds. He has a smooth, reddish-tan colored coat with a hint of cream on his muzzle and large, floppy ears. His big, brown eyes plead for love and are sure to steal your heart! He's a sweet, gentle guy who can be shy around new people due to his past. He’s working on gaining his confidence around strangers, and is loving all of the attention he gets at the SPCA of Texas. He is looking for a patient, understanding family who will continue to let him learn the ropes of being a pet in a home. In return, he’ll be sure to give you all the love you could ever need. If you're looking for a quiet gentleman to curl up and read books with, he’s the one for you! Joshua is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet him.

Still looking for a new home: Freckles

Meet Freckles, an 11-year-old, female Shepherd mix weighing 53-pounds. She has a short, smooth coat that is mostly white with touches of charcoal on her eyes and little gray freckles on her face – hence her name! With perky triangle ears, brown eyes and a curled tail, she’s quite the cute little lady. She can be shy around new people, but has gained a lot of confidence since coming to the SPCA of Texas. She’s working on learning to walk on a leash, trusting people and making friends with other dogs. She would love a calm, quiet home where she can continue building her trust with people and take it easy. She’s sweet, gentle and affectionate once she gets to know you, and will be a loyal and loving girl to anyone who gives her time to settle in. If you’re looking for an older lady to enjoy quiet time with, she’s the one for you! Freckles is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet her.

Still looking for a new home: Winnie

Meet Winnie, an 8-year-old, male Labrador Retriever mix dog weighing 52-pounds. He has a short, smooth tan coat, semi-perky ears and soulful brown eyes. Little bits of white on his muzzle give away his age, but he’s still one handsome fellow! He's super sweet, gentle and easygoing. He loves attention from people, and adores being petted and going for slow walks. He can be a little timid at time, but he warms up to new people quickly – especially if they have treats! He may be a senior, but he still likes to go outside and play. He also enjoys nap time and taking it easy. His great personality is sure to steal your heart the moment you meet him. If you’re looking for a sweet senior to snuggle with, he’s the one for you! Winnie is waiting to meet you at the SPCA of Texas’ Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. Please visit spca.org/dogadopt to make an appointment to meet him.

Still looking for a new home: Chunk

Meet Chunk, a 2 ½-year-old, male Pit Bull mix. He’s a lovable and loyal guy looking for some humans to be best buddies with. His previous owner said he knows several commands (if you pay him in treats), rides well in the car, and is house trained. He is pretty spoiled by the staff at the shelter and they usually let him hang out with them in their office! He loves tennis balls! Chasing them, chewing them- they're just so much fun. If getting attention is considered a hobby, it's definitely his! Because he LOVES people, hanging out with the humans is how he likes to spend most of his time. In foster now, he'll need a home with a private, securely fenced yard and adults only please! He would also do best as the only pet in the home, but he promises he'll bring all the love you'll need! Potential adopters are able to take him on a test drive through a trial adoption! Meet and greets are by appointment only, so contact Foster@spca.org to schedule.
