SPCA Pet Adoption, July 13, 2025
The SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center is open for adoptions every day from noon to 6:00 PM. Animals are available by walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are also available for select animals. Animals at the Jan Rees-Jones building don't need an appointment. Some of the SPCA dogs up for adoption are temporarily housed in the Russell E. Dealey Rescue Center. This overflow area for adoptable animals is nearby but is accessible by appointment only. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.
These adult dogs and adult cats are at the SPCA of Texas' Dallas Animal Care Center and our Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878, Waxahachie, TX). Adoptions are sponsored by the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center. There's one exception—when a senior adopts a senior pet, age seven or older the adoption fee is waived. Puppies and kittens under the age of six months are $150. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of MetLife Insurance, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
Ongoing Special: "Seniors for Seniors" (over 60) can adopt any senior animal (over age 6) for free! (This recently changed, it was 65 and 7.)
Looking for a new home: Daisy

Meet Daisy, a 10-year-old Retriever/Labrador mix with a sleek black coat, white chest (and toe tips!) and sweet bright eyes. She's sociable, treat motivated, well mannered and great on a leash, and good with other dogs. She's best with children over 12 who are respectful of her senior status. At 54 pounds cuddling isn't one of her listed features but she loves a good belly rub. A fenced backyard is on her list of requirements. Daisy is in the foster care program right now so an appointment is needed to meet her.
Daisy is one of the SPCA "Top 10 Dogs of Summer" so her adoption fee is only $50! (Top Dogs of Summer are our pups who’ve been in the shelter the longest) but she also qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors program—individuals age 60 and older can adopt a shelter pet age 6 and older for free! See her profile and click to make an appointment to meet her here.
Great news: Scuttle, Sammie and Jerome have all been adopted! Winston, Betty, Ava, Duchess, and Galvin are still waiting for their forever homes.
Still looking for a new home: Winston

Meet Winston, a big fluffy white senior gentle giant. At 67 pounds it's a good thing this guy is great on a leash. His foster family finds he has gone through a great transformation: "Once incredibly timid, he has blossomed into a loving companion who seeks affection from those he knows. While he is still fearful around new guests, and retreats to his crate for comfort, once he warms up, he displays an endearing sweetness that melts hearts." He is particularly good with cats and female dogs. At almost eight-years-old, Winson is eligible for the Seniors for Seniors free adoption program. Right now he is in foster care, so make an appointment to meet Winston today at our Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Winston has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all his necessary vaccinations. See his profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/winston/.
Still looking for a new home: Sugar

Meet Sugar, a mixed breed (looks like a lot of blue heeler) pooch who is a 45 pound one-year old. She's energetic, smart, curious, and loves kids under 12 and other dogs. The SPCA suggests she would be great as a running buddy or a hiking partner. Meet Sugar today at our Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Sugar has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her necessary vaccinations. See her profile at the SPCA.
Still looking for a new home: Betty

Meet Betty, a 5-year-old 62-pound German Shepherd dog mix who has lots of great things going for her. She's great on a leash, good with kids under 12 and other dogs, easygoing, and a great cuddler. This graceful pooch apparently takes things slow and is quite loveable. She is at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Betty has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her necessary vaccinations. See Betty's profile at the SPCA.
Still looking for a new home: Ava

Meet Ava, a big playful mixed breed (looks like pitbull and a little Shar-Pei) who loves walks on a leash, playing in the water, and playing with balls. At three-years-old and 80 pounds, this pooch has a short red coat with a white line on her chest and a red nose. The "Borrow and Buddy" testimonial on her SPCA profile says is friendly and easygoing and was constantly wagging her tail. Ava is at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Campus (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212) seven days a week between Noon and 6 p.m. Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Ava has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her necessary vaccinations. Here is her SPCA profile.
Still looking for a new home: Duchess

Meet Duchess, a beautiful gray/silver pittie mix who weighs 59 pounds. At one-year-old, she may grow a bit more, but is considered adult. She is active, adventurous, affectionate, curious, and smart. Duchess is great with other dogs and with children, though it is always a good idea to bring the kids and dogs down to meet any animal you're considering adopting. She is at the Dallas Animal Care Center, so she can be seen from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Animals are available for adoption at both the SPCA Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive) and the Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878 in Waxahachie, Texas). See Duchess' profile here.
Still looking for a new home: Galvin

Meet Galvin, an American Blue Heeler mix who is almost two years old and 49 pounds. He has a merle or marbled coat with tan and white accents and the classic blue heeler face mask (dark over his eyes). Galvin is friendly, gentle, and loving with people, is good with kids under 12 and other dogs, and is in need of a foster or foster-to-adopt situation. It's always a good idea to bring the family and dogs down to meet any dog you're considering adopting. His adoption fee is $75 and he is at the Dallas Animal Care Center, so come by any day of the week between Noon and 6 p.m. to meet him. Here is his profile at the SPCA.
