SPCA Pet Adoption, March 23, 2025
The SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center is open for adoptions every day from noon to 6:00 PM. Animals are available by walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are also available for select animals. Animals at the Jan Rees-Jones building don't need an appointment. Some of the SPCA dogs up for adoption are temporarily housed in the Russell E. Dealey Rescue Center. This overflow area for adoptable animals is nearby but is accessible by appointment only. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.
These adult dogs and adult cats are at the SPCA of Texas' Dallas Animal Care Center and our Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878, Waxahachie, TX). Adoptions are sponsored by the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center. There's one exception—when a senior adopts a senior pet, age seven or older the adoption fee is waived. Puppies and kittens under the age of six months are $150. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of MetLife Insurance, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.

Looking for a new home: Star Fox


Meet Star Fox, a one-year-old shepherd mix who weighs 38 pounds. She has a short tan coat accented with a dark muzzle, alert ears, soulful eyes, and is an affectionate and gentle companion who walks well on a leash. She's good with people including kids under 12 and good with other dogs, though it is always a good idea to bring the family and dogs down to meet any animal you're considering adopting. Meet Diya, a smallish 2-year-old Lab mix, weighing in at 49 pounds. She as a short white and tan coat, tan ears and a light tan mask. Diya's ears are soft and she has a sweet smile when she isn't playing a game of fetch or being silly chasing her tail. This snuggler is great with adults and with kids under 12 years and with other dogs. Bring the family and dogs down to meet any dog you are considering adopting. Meet Courage, a three-year-old 45-pound Labrador Terrier mix with a short shiny black coat and white highlights. He has a great smile, loves toys and plays fetch. Courage is good with kids under 12 years and other dogs, and is treat motivated. It is always a good idea to bring the kids and dogs down to meet any animal you are considering adopting. Meet Jessie, a two-year-old shepherd-terrier mix. At 29 pounds she's a good size for snuggling, something she loves to do. She's also good walking on a leash and likes other dogs and children under 12 years. Jessie has a short brown, black, and white coat with soft floppy years. She is shy at first but warms up to people quickly and is very friendly. Jesse is at the Russell E. Meet Acorn, a 5-year-old mixed breed with some boxer and pit in the blend. He's 64 pounds of goofy playfulness. He is described as smart, affectionate, curious, and a calming presence. Meet Duchess, a beautiful gray/silver pittie mix who weighs 59 pounds. At one-year-old, she may grow a bit more, but is considered adult. She is active, adventurous, affectionate, curious, and smart. Meet Rayden, a 2-year-old mixed breed (looks like lots of pitbull terrier) with a flat smooth white and black coat and a big happy smile. He loves people, loves walking on a leash, is house trained and is treat motivated. At 65-pounds Rayden is full-grown snuggler who is mellow and friendly. Meet Caroline, a seven-year-old mixed hound and beagle who tips the scales at 69 pounds. This friendly girl has a beautiful black and white dappled short coat, with dark mask and ears and a lovely smile. Caroline is mellow, friendly, gentle, and cuddly. She's good with kids under 12-years of age and with other dogs, and is at the Dallas Animal Care Center, so you can meet her any day from noon till 6pm. Meet Sammie, a lovely pure-white Siberian husky with stunning blue eyes. At 18 months she's a big pup and may grow a bit more. Now she is 55 pounds. This dog is intelligent, eager to learn, is energetic and playful but gentle, and is good with children under 12 and with other dogs. She's a cuddler when the occasion arises. He has a merle or marbled coat with tan and white accents and the classic blue heeler face mask (dark over his eyes). Galvin is friendly, gentle, and loving with people, is good with kids under 12 and other dogs, and is in need of a foster or foster-to-adopt situation. Meet Luca, a 35-pound seven-month-old boxer-terrier pup. He is a typical pup: energetic, affectionate, curious, sweet, and a fast-learner. He apparently is a very good snuggler who gives good kisses.
