SPCA Pet Adoption, May 25, 2017

From previous features: Cameron and Brianna were adopted! Lottie and Bart are still waiting for their forever homes.

Here is this week’s dog from McKinney:  Nalla

Meet Nalla, a beautiful 3-year old, 55-pound brindle Pit Bull mix. She came to the SPCA of Texas on March 3 because she and the other pets in her previous home didn't get along too well. But her previous owner wanted you to know that she’s loving and sweet. Volunteers have noted that she is very affectionate, and she loves being petted. If you stop petting her, she will nudge your hand and arm with her head in order to ask you to continue petting her. As is typical of most dogs, she certainly loves treats, and is very gentle when she takes them from your hand. She also seems to know how to shake. If you come visit her, she will be happy to show you! It's possible she also knows sit, come, down and fetch, but might need you to remind her what those mean. She loves booty scratches and giving lots of kisses, and her booty is always wiggling! She’s just an all-around happy girl. She can be a little protective of my humans around strangers (human and animal), so it might be best if she’s the only pet in the household. However, she does have some canine friends, so if you have a dog at home right now, you can bring him or her to the shelter for a meet and greet with her and you can see how it goes. In her previous home, she got along well with children over 10. She is heartworm positive, but the good news is that her treatment has been paid for by generous donors and is FREE for you. All she’ll need you to do is take her to her appointment at a local VCA Animal Hospital and give her a nice place to rest while the medicine kills the heartworms. Nallas has been spayed, microchipped and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations. She really hopes to meet you in person soon! #129908

Still waiting for a home:  Lottie

Meet Lottie, a 4-year old Shepherd mix weighing 36-pounds. She may be shy when you first meet, but give me a treat or rub her belly and you can be best friends! She came to the SPCA of Texas in November when she was rescued from cruelty. She hasn't had an easy life so far, and she’s still learning how to trust people. The nice staff and volunteers here have been so nice to her, and have helped her overcome some of my shyness. She enjoys going for walks and is even house trained, though it may take her a few tries to get the routine of my new home. She likes playing with other dogs too, so if you have another dog, bring them to meet her to see if they make a good match. She would do best in a family without children under 10 as she sometimes gets frightened but she’s working on being brave! Lottie has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her age-appropriate vaccinations. Plus, her adoption fee includes 30-days of PetHealth pet insurance from PetPlan, and a free wellness visit (within 14 days) at any Metroplex-area VCA Animal Hospital. Please come meet her today. She promises to love you for the rest of her days. #150795

Still waiting for a home:  Bart

Meet Bart, a 3-year-old, black and white Collie mix weighing 60-pounds. He’s an incredible dog, and a staff and volunteer favorite. He’s had a bit of a rough past and didn't receive as much food as he should have, but he’s been spoiled here, is gaining back his weight nicely and is now ready to find a loving forever home! He rides great in the car, and as long as you take him outside regularly, he does all his business outside. He gets along with most other dogs, but he might need to be supervised while playing with them because sometimes he gets a little too energetic during playtime. If you already have your own dog, please bring them to meet him to see if they get along well. He mainly just wants to be near his human or at least be able to see you when he’s lounging on his dog bed. He loves to cuddle with people and he sleeps like a baby next to his human if you let him get in your bed. He walks well on a leash and would love for you to take him on walks. Sometimes motorcycles or loud noises scare him, but he knows you'll stay right next to him if he hears any of those while you are on your walks. Bart has been neutered, microchipped and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations. He hopes you'll come visit him soon. He will be the best family member, full of tail wags and kisses! #135109
