SPCA Pet Adoption, December 14, 2025

The SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center is open for adoptions every day from noon to 6:00 PM. Animals are available by walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are also available for select animals. Animals at the Jan Rees-Jones building don't need an appointment. Some of the SPCA dogs up for adoption are temporarily housed in the Russell E. Dealey Rescue Center. This overflow area for adoptable animals is nearby but is accessible by appointment only. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.

These adult dogs and adult cats are at the SPCA of Texas' Dallas Animal Care Center and our Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878, Waxahachie, TX).  Adoptions are sponsored by the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center. There's one exception—when a senior adopts a senior pet, age seven or older the adoption fee is waived. Puppies and kittens under the age of six months are $150. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of MetLife Insurance, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.

!!! A change in the fees/offerings at the SPCA: We have changed our Senior program. "Senior Sweethearts" allows anyone, no matter their age, to adopt any pets age 6 and older for free. Humans age 60 and older, can adopt any shelter pet, no matter their age, for free. There are also specials for dogs that have been in the shelter for a very long time.

Looking for a new home: Lazuli

Meet Lazuli, a silver-gray and white big pup who is a 32 pound Weimaraner-mix. At a year and a half old she may still have some growing to do, but is already potty trained and walks well on a leash. Lazuli is currently healing from a mass removal surgery and is looking for a quiet, caring space where she can finish healing. This dog is bright, affectionate, friendly, good with other dogs, and a great cuddler. She is available for foster while she heals, and soon will be ready for adoption, and it can be that the foster home is the one that adopts. Fostering an SPCA of Texas shelter pet doesn’t cost a thing except love and time. Everything is provided—bowls, food, bedding, collar, medications. She has been spayed, microchipped, and is current on all her vaccines. Come meet this sweet girl any day from Noon to 6 p.m., at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212). Walk-ins are welcome. Email foster@spca.org to learn more about fostering her, and visit her profile at the SPCA site.

Good news! Clay has been adopted from his foster-to-adopt home. Liana, Primrose, Alexa, Kingston, Tater, and Betty are still waiting for their forever homes.

Still looking for a new home: Liana

Meet Liana, a big pup transported from Los Angeles, CA, after the fires in January. At one and a half years old, this 61-pound shepherd-mix is smart and responds to a number of commands, including sit, stay, down, come, and heel. She is playful, curious, gentle, and goofy, and Liana is one of the SPCA's Longtime Lovables—a pet who has been in the shelter for more than 60 days—so her adoption fee is $0! Yes, there is no charge to adopt this beautiful girl! Meet Liana at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, Dallas, 75212), which is open from Noon to 6 p.m., daily. Liana has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on all her vaccines. See her profile on the SPCA site.

Still looking for a new home: Primrose

Meet Primrose, a two-year-old sweetheart with a beautiful shiny black and white coat, soulful eyes, and short little legs. She's good on a leash and with other dogs, and the 47 pound pooch is happy to cuddle. Primrose is one of the SPCA of Texas' Longtime Lovables, which means her adoption fee is $0! That’s right—you can bring home this loving girl and all the joy she’ll bring completely free of charge. Like all shelter pets at the SPCA of Texas, Primrose has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccinations. Meet this sweet young pup today at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212), every day from noon to 6pm and see why this beautiful girl is ready to bloom right into your heart. View her profile on the SPCA site.

Still looking for a new home: Alexa

Meet Alexa, a chocolate-brown mixed breed soulful senior who is almost 12-years old. We don't know why this older sweetheart has ended up in a shelter at this advanced age, but this well-behaved smart girl deserves a family for the rest of her life. At 59-pounds she loves people and is a good-sized snuggler, is friendly and gentle and walks well on a leash. She gets long well with other dogs and loves car rides and is fond of water. Like all shelter pets at the SPCA of Texas, Alexa has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccinations. See her any day of the week at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212), every day of the week from Noon to 6 p.m. She qualifies for the Seniors for Seniors program (any adult age 60 and older can adopt a shelter pet age 6 and older for free!) Her profile can be seen at the SPCA website.

Still looking for a new home: Kingston

Meet Kingston, a 7-year-old black Labrador mix. This guy is 71 pounds and is available through the Foster-to-adopt program because he has a couple of health issues to deal with before adoption (dental work and heartworm treatment). That means he can go into a foster situation while he gets treatment, then can be adopted. He's playful, loves to cuddle, is happy and calm, and great on a leash. The SPCA note says he would be best in a home without small children. Meet Kingston at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week. Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, he has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all his necessary vaccinations. His adoption fee will be $75, but he is eligible for the Senior-for-Seniors program for free adoption. See his profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/kingston/.

Still looking for a new home: Tater

Meet Tater, a Great Pyrenees mix who is two-years-old and 55 pounds of mellow, goofy love. He loves balls and squeaky toys, is good on a leash, is friendly and a quick learner. There isn't information about other animals or kids under 12, so be sure to ask, and it's always a good idea to take the family and dogs down to meet any dog you are considering adopting. Meet Tator at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Tator has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all his necessary vaccinations. See his profile at the SPCA.

Still looking for a new home: Sugar

Meet Sugar, a mixed breed (looks like a lot of blue heeler) pooch who is a 45 pound one-year old. She's energetic, smart, curious, and loves kids under 12 and other dogs. The SPCA suggests she would be great as a running buddy or a hiking partner. Meet Sugar today at our Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Sugar has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her necessary vaccinations. See her profile at the SPCA.

Still looking for a new home: Betty

Meet Betty, a 5-year-old 62-pound German Shepherd dog mix who has lots of great things going for her. She's great on a leash, good with kids under 12 and other dogs, easygoing, and a great cuddler. This graceful pooch apparently takes things slow and is quite loveable. She is at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Betty has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her necessary vaccinations. See Betty's profile at the SPCA.
