SPCA Pet Adoption, November 16, 2025

The SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center is open for adoptions every day from noon to 6:00 PM. Animals are available by walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are also available for select animals. Animals at the Jan Rees-Jones building don't need an appointment. Some of the SPCA dogs up for adoption are temporarily housed in the Russell E. Dealey Rescue Center. This overflow area for adoptable animals is nearby but is accessible by appointment only. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.

These adult dogs and adult cats are at the SPCA of Texas' Dallas Animal Care Center and our Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878, Waxahachie, TX).  Adoptions are sponsored by the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center. There's one exception—when a senior adopts a senior pet, age seven or older the adoption fee is waived. Puppies and kittens under the age of six months are $150. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of MetLife Insurance, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.

!!! A change in the fees/offerings at the SPCA: We have changed our Senior program. "Senior Sweethearts" allows anyone, no matter their age, to adopt any pets age 6 and older for free. Humans age 60 and older, can adopt any shelter pet, no matter their age, for free. There are also specials for dogs that have been in the shelter for a very long time.

Looking for a new home: Baxter

Meet Baxter, the "Tongue-Out Champion of Love and Laughter" according to the folks at the SPCA. At 1 1/2 years this big pup is an attractive male with a smooth black coat and white markings. He's a pit mix who weighs 63 pounds with floppy ears and a constantly-wagging tail. He loves walks and cuddles, is good with other dogs, and because he has been at the shelter for more than sixty days, his adoption fee is free. Baxter is one of the SPCA of Texas’ Longtime Lovables—a pet who has been at the shelter more than 60 days! You can bring home all the love and laughter of one of our Longtime Lovables completely free of charge. It's always advisable to bring family members and pets down to meet any dog you're planning to adopt. Like all shelter pets at the SPCA of Texas, Baxter has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on his vaccinations, and you can meet Baxter at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212) any day of the week between noon and 6pm. See his profile visit his SPCA page.

Duke, Alexa, Clay, Tacoma, Jayda, Elm, Sally, Cleo, Kingston, Zane, Tater, and Betty are still waiting for their forever homes.

Still looking for a new home: Duke

Meet Duke, a senior mixedbreed guy who loves to play fetch and tug and is happy chasing and showing off zoomies. He's shy with other dogs at first, but warms up quickly. With people he is friendly, playful, and a cuddler. As a seven-year-old, 33-year-old Duke is eligible for the Senior adoption program, when any animal over six years can be adopted free by a senior human over age sixty. For the time being he is eligible for the foster to adopt program because he is awaiting a dental procedure. Meet Duke today at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212), which is open from noon to 6pm every day. Like all shelter pets at the SPCA of Texas, Duke has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on his vaccinations. See Duke's profile at the SPCA.

Still looking for a new home: Alexa

Meet Alexa, a chocolate-brown mixed breed soulful senior who is almost 12-years old. We don't know why this older sweetheart has ended up in a shelter at this advanced age, but this well-behaved smart girl deserves a family for the rest of her life. At 59-pounds she loves people and is a good-sized snuggler, is friendly and gentle and walks well on a leash. She gets long well with other dogs and loves car rides and is fond of water. Like all shelter pets at the SPCA of Texas, Alexa has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccinations. See her any day of the week at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212), every day of the week from Noon to 6 p.m. She qualifies for the Seniors for Seniors program (any adult age 60 and older can adopt a shelter pet age 6 and older for free!) Her profile can be seen at the SPCA website.

Still looking for a new home: Clay

Meet Clay, a 70-pound goofy tan-colored male mixed breed pooch who would enjoy an active family. He loves to run zoomies around the yard but also is a friendly cuddler. At four-and-a-half years old, Clay is as big as he's going to get and has a lot of good years to be a companion in your family. Make a point of taking other dogs and family members to the shelter when you plan to adopt, to be sure it's a good fit. Clay was "office fostered" - he got to hang out in the SPCA offices with staff, and he was wonderful. He walks well on a leash. Like all SPCA of Texas shelter pets, Clay has been neutered, microchipped and has all his necessary vaccinations. He can be visited at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212), any day of the week between Noon and 6 p.m. The adoption fee is $75, unless you adopt on Halloween day, when all adoptions are $31. See his profile at the SPCA.

Still looking for a new home: Tacoma

Meet Tacoma, a three-year-old brindle pit-shepherd looking mix. She's 42 pounds with a big smile and tall pointed ears and a lot of energy who would do well with an active family. The SPCA also notes that she is gentle and a cuddler, but to be sure she'll fit in your family take the family and dogs down to meet any dog you plan to adopt. Tacoma is at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212), which is open from Noon to 6 p.m., every day of the week. Her adoption fee just $75. Like all SPCA of Texas shelter pets, she has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her vaccines. See her profile at the SPCA.

Still looking for a new home: Jayda

Meet Jayda, a one-year-old mixedbreed (who looks like she has some black mouth cur) with perky ears. With a light brown coat and dark muzzle, this female is friendly, gentle, and loves to cuddle. Meet this big-eared beauty at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212), open every day of the week from Noon to 6 p.m. Be sure to bring family members and dogs down to meet any dog you're considering adopting. Like all shelter pets at the SPCA of Texas, Jayda has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccinations. See Jayda's profile at the SPCA's page for her.

Still looking for a new home: Elm

Meet Elm, a 1-year-old male black and brindled coat mixedbreed who came up to North Texas from Hill Country after the floods. He's a big guy at 65 pounds, but that comes packed with great features. He's an adventurous yet gentle pooch with floppy ears, a big smile, and wagging tail. Like all SPCA of Texas shelter pets, Elm has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all his vaccines. Meet him at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212) and for just $75 for the adoption fee take home a pooch who will offer years of adventure and loyalty. The SPCA is no longer including pet and child interaction information, so be sure to take the family and any other dogs down to meet an animal you are considering adopting. See his profile at the SPCA's website.

Still looking for a new home: Sally

Meet Sally, a three-year-old mixedbreed pooch who is gentle, affectionate, and great on a leash. She has a light tan mask over her eyes, black and pink nose, a white and tan blond coat, and weighs in at 50 pounds and thrives on affection. We have no information about her behavior with other dogs or small children, so be sure to bring the family and other dogs down to meet any dog you plant to adopt. Like all pets at the SPCA of Texas, she has been spayed, microchipped and is up-to-date on all her vaccines. You can meet Sally the sweetheart at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Dr, 75212) any day of the week from 12 to 5 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome—no application or appointment needed. Her adoption fee is just $75. See Sally's profile https://spca.org/adoptable/sally/.

Still looking for a new home: Cleo

Meet Cleo, a four-year-old female boxer-pit-mix with a gorgeous brindle coat. This 53-pound girl has an ear-to-ear smile and loves people and going for walks on the leash. She seems to have injured a leg, so for the time being she is in the Foster-to-Adopt, which means you can welcome her into your home now while she continues to heal. Once she’s fully recovered, Cleo can officially become your forever friend. She has an injury on her back right leg that the SPCA vets are still tending and will need to stay a bit less active, going for walks on a leash, not racing through the yard. We don't know how she is with children under 12-years or other dogs, so always plan to bring the family and other dogs down to meet any animal you plan to adopt. Email foster@spca.org to meet and foster Cleo. Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Cleo has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her necessary vaccinations. See her profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/cleo/.

Still looking for a new home: Kingston

Meet Kingston, a 7-year-old black Labrador mix. This guy is 71 pounds and is available through the Foster-to-adopt program because he has a couple of health issues to deal with before adoption (dental work and heartworm treatment). That means he can go into a foster situation while he gets treatment, then can be adopted. He's playful, loves to cuddle, is happy and calm, and great on a leash. The SPCA note says he would be best in a home without small children. Meet Kingston at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week. Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, he has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all his necessary vaccinations. His adoption fee will be $75, but he is eligible for the Senior-for-Seniors program for free adoption. See his profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/kingston/.

Still looking for a new home: Zane

Meet Zane, a goofy shepherd-mix three-year-old who loves people and playing in water. At 54-pounds he is great on a leash and going for walks. Well-mannered and shy at first, he quickly warms to people. The SPCA doesn't specify how he is with other dogs or children under 12-years, so be sure to take the family and dogs down to meet any pet you're considering adopting. His adoption fee is $75. Meet Zane at 2400 Lone Star Dr any day from 12noon-6pm and see his profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/zane/.

Still looking for a new home: Tater

Meet Tater, a Great Pyrenees mix who is two-years-old and 55 pounds of mellow, goofy love. He loves balls and squeaky toys, is good on a leash, is friendly and a quick learner. There isn't information about other animals or kids under 12, so be sure to ask, and it's always a good idea to take the family and dogs down to meet any dog you are considering adopting. Meet Tator at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Tator has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all his necessary vaccinations. See his profile at the SPCA.

Still looking for a new home: Sugar

Meet Sugar, a mixed breed (looks like a lot of blue heeler) pooch who is a 45 pound one-year old. She's energetic, smart, curious, and loves kids under 12 and other dogs. The SPCA suggests she would be great as a running buddy or a hiking partner. Meet Sugar today at our Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Sugar has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her necessary vaccinations. See her profile at the SPCA.

Still looking for a new home: Betty

Meet Betty, a 5-year-old 62-pound German Shepherd dog mix who has lots of great things going for her. She's great on a leash, good with kids under 12 and other dogs, easygoing, and a great cuddler. This graceful pooch apparently takes things slow and is quite loveable. She is at the Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), which is open from noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week! Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Betty has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on all her necessary vaccinations. See Betty's profile at the SPCA.
