SPCA Pet Adoption, December 8, 2024

The SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center is open for adoptions every day from noon to 6:00 PM. Animals are available by walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are also available for select animals. Animals at the Jan Rees-Jones building don't need an appointment. Some of the SPCA dogs up for adoption are temporarily housed in the Russell E. Dealey Rescue Center. This overflow area for adoptable animals is nearby but is accessible by appointment only. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.

These adult dogs and adult cats are at the SPCA of Texas' Dallas Animal Care Center and our Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878, Waxahachie, TX).  Adoptions are sponsored by the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center. There's one exception—when a senior adopts a senior pet, age seven or older the adoption fee is waived. Puppies and kittens under the age of six months are $150. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of MetLife Insurance, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.

It’s Empty The Shelters time at the SPCA of Texas. Thanks to the generosity of the Bissell Foundation, all adoptions at both the Dallas and Ellis County shelters are only $25!

Looking for a new home: Sammons

Meet Sammons, a sleek senior black and tan fellow who is still full of joy and love. At 19-pounds this Chihuahua-Terrier mix is an easy-going pooch who is good with adults, children, and other dogs. If you're looking for a cuddler, he is up to the job. Sammons is at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center so you can see him any day from noon to 6pm. It's a good idea to bring down the kids and any other dogs to meet a dog you're considering adopting. His profile is at https://spca.org/adoptable/sammons/.

Honey, Allen, Lexter, Patrick, Orchid, Toby, Little Bear, and Oompa are still waiting for their forever homes.

Still looking for a new home: Honey

Meet Honey, a sweet and patient 2-year-old shepherd mix. This 47-pound girl has a gray-flecked coat and white chest, dark eyes and a black nose. She gets along well with people, with children under age 12, and other dogs, and is a motivated quick learner. She is treat motivated. Honey is at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so you’ll need an appointment to meet her. Make a point of bringing all family members and other dogs down to meet any dog you're considering adopting. See Honey's profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/honey/.

Still looking for a new home: Allen

Meet Allen, a sweet senior 13-pound Chihuahua. At ten-years-old, this guy is a snuggler. He is being treated for heartworm and awaits some dental work, so is available for foster-to-adopt at this time. While he recovers, Allen’s activity will be limited to leash walks only, making him a great fit for someone who appreciates relaxed strolls and indoor time. Fostering Allen is completely free, and the SPCA of Texas will provide all his food, toys, bowls, and medications—you just need to bring him in for his clinic vet appointments. Allen is at the Dallas Animal care Center and you can see his profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/allen/. Email fostermed@spca.org to schedule and appointment to meet him. During November it is a "Name your Price" adoption fee promotion. Animals are available for adoption at both the SPCA Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive) and the Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878 in Waxahachie, Texas).

Still looking for a new home: Lexter

Meet Lexter, a 35-pound seven-month-old boxer-terrier pup. He is a typical pup: energetic, affectionate, curious, sweet, and a fast-learner. He apparently is a very good snuggler who gives good kisses. Lexter is well-mannered and good with kids under 12-years and with other dogs. He is housed at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so you’ll need an appointment to meet him, and you can find a link for an appointment on his profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/lexter/.

Still looking for a new home: Patrick

Meet Patrick, a big pup with a striking short red coat with white highlights. At 1 1/2 years Patrick is a survivor; he is a tripod (one leg amputated) who gets around super well and is always ready to explore the world on leashed walks (he is very good at walks!) and is good with children under 12 years and other dogs. Patrick is 57 pounds and may be growing a bit more. He loves spending times outdoor and when he's around people he loves to be the center of attention. Bring the kids and other dogs down to meet him at the Dallas Animal Care Center (always a good idea when considering adopting a new pet). Find his profile at the SPCA of Texas here.

Still looking for a new home: Orchid

Meet Orchid, a 2-year-old female large terrier mix. With her short tan and white coat and soft floppy ears her dark eyes are very soulful. She is a 52-pound cuddlebug who walks well on a leash. Though Orchid might be shy at first when meeting you, she is a sweet dog who is great with people, including kids under 12. She is also good with other dogs, but as we always recommend, please bring the kids and dogs down to meet any dog you're considering adoption. Meet Orchid at the Dallas Animal Care Center any day from noon to 6pm. Her online profile is https://spca.org/adoptable/orchid/.

Still looking for a new home: Toby

Meet Toby, a five-year-old 66-pound mixed-breed pooch with a sleek tan coat, white feet, and dark highlights around his muzzle and eyes. (Looks like a lot of Lab in there.) He is great with kids under 12 years and other dogs, is good on a leash and enjoys going for walks. He also enjoys stuffed animals. This playful boy is at the Dallas Russell E. Dealey Center so an appointment is needed to meet him. See his profile and make an appointment on his profile page: https://spca.org/adoptable/chunk/.

Still looking for a new home: Little Bear

Meet Little Bear, a senior shepherd/chow chow mix who is 47 pounds of playful curiosity mixed with a love of calm and quiet people. He would be best as the only dog in the home, but if you have a calm dog, bring it down for a meeting. No mention of small children or not (bring them to the meeting also). Little Bear is ten years old with a beautiful medium golden coat, fluffy tail, and dark eyes, and he likes slow walks and just hanging out with his people. It would be best if it is someone home most of the day. He is at the Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is needed to meet him. His profiles can be found at https://spca.org/adoptable/little-bear/.

Still looking for a new home: Oompa

Meet Oompa, a lovable and goofy two-year-old mixed breed dog, searching for his perfect forever home! This charming 68-pound boy is a bundle of joy and silliness, guaranteed to fill your life with laughter and happiness. Oompa's unique journey began when he was found as a stray, seeking refuge under a house alongside 12 other dogs. Despite his rough start, Oompa's resilient spirit shines through, and he's now ready to embark on a new chapter of his life with a loving family by his side. He is in a foster home, so an appointment is needed to meet him. Despite his previous hardships, Oompa is great with other dogs, showcasing his ability to be a wonderful companion to furry siblings. He will be good with human siblings, too! With a little patience and love, Oompa's potential knows no bounds. Visit Oompa’s profile at https://spca.org/adoptable/oompa/ and click on the "Make an Appointment" button. Oompa's team will set everything up from there.
