SPCA Pet Adoption, October 19, 2017
From previous features: Wilbur, Oreo and Athena are still waiting for their forever homes.
Here is this week’s dog from Dallas: Champ
Meet Champ, a 9-year-old, tan and white Hound mix weighing 44-pounds. He may be a little older, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit! He came to the SPCA of Texas on September 11 when he was transferred from another shelter to search for a forever home. Could that be with you? Champ likes lots of snuggles, playtime, attention from people and going for walks. He is playful, affectionate, friendly, loving and loyal – he’s got it all! He can be a little protective over his food, so he may do best in a home with no other dogs or small children, or he may need to fed separately from other pets. He is an all-around good boy who can’t wait to find a family of his own. He has been neutered, microchipped and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations. He is heartworm positive, but thanks to generous donors, his treatments will be FREE at any Metroplex-area VCA Animal Hospital once he’s adopted. His adoption fee is only $25, so what are you waiting for? Come meet him today! #155097

Still waiting for a home: Wilbur
Meet Wilbur, a fun-loving, 4-year-old, male Cane Corso mix weighing 72-pounds. This hunky guy is a real handsome fellow, with a silvery blue coat and a winning smile – just one look at him, and you won’t be able to resist giving him attention. He came to the SPCA of Texas in May when he was rescued by an Animal Cruelty Investigator. He was adopted, but later returned due to unrealistic expectations at no fault of his own. Now, he’s hoping to find the perfect family to take him home. He is very energetic, loves being outside, going for walks and playing with toys. He takes his playing pretty seriously, so he may do best in a home without small children or pets so he doesn’t accidentally hurt someone with his big, goofy self. Since being in the shelter, he has been working on learning some new skills like walking well on a leash, having good doggie manners and performing commands for treats. Because of his unknown past and high energy, he’ll need a patient family who will be willing to help him become the best dog he can be – he knows he can do it! If you’re looking for a running buddy, hiking partner or friend to play fetch with, he’s the guy for you!! If you have another large dog at home, you can bring them to meet him and see if they make a good match. Wilbur has been neutered, microchipped and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations. Come meet him today, and he’ll be sure to show you a great time! #154325
Still Waiting for a Home: Oreo
Meet Oreo, a 6-year-old, mostly black Shepherd mix weighing 61-pounds. He came to the SPCA of Texas on July 7 through a compliance rescue case. When the SPCA of Texas' Animal Cruelty Investigators found him, he was scared and in terrible shape. He has beautiful blue and brown eyes and tiny flecks of grey and white on his face, giving him a cookies and cream coloring. While his skin issues have been treated, he is still missing fur and naked in a lot of places, but he’s working on growing his hair back. Don't laugh, according to Chinese crested dogs, this is totally a thing! He can be a bit barky at the shelter, but it is just his way of asking for attention, as he is learning that people equal great things like treats, squeaky voices and taking him outside to play! He can be a little shy when it comes to handling, but he warms up quickly. He loves other dogs, so he would make a lovely companion for dogs and humans alike for someone that is willing to offer him time and patience. Oreo has been neutered, microchipped and is current on all age-appropriate vaccinations. He is heartworm positive, but thanks to generous donors, his treatments will be FREE at any Metroplex-area VCA Animal Hospital. Come meet him today! #155730
Still waiting for a home: Athena
Meet Athena, who just like her namesake, is very wise - she even knows how to sit! She’s a 7-year-old, tan and white Pit Bull mix weighing 58-pounds of pure love. She’s been through a lot but that doesn't stop her from being a total sweetheart. She loves people, especially people who give her head scratches and treats. She appears to be housetrained, rides well in the car and walks great on her leash. She’s a gentle, loving gal who will bring joy to your home. She’s looking for a hero - could it be you? If so, come on down to the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center today! Athena has been spayed, microchipped and received all age-appropriate vaccinations. If you have another dog, please bring them to meet her to see if they get along. #154568
