City of Mendoza

Some shots taken around the city. There are no native trees - it's a desert.

Sycamores and Lombardy poplars make up a high percentage of the trees that have been planted - and they are doing quite well in that dry climate. Palms and several evergreens such as various cedars are in the parks that dot the city. Notice the canal system at the edge of all the streets. Water is brought in from ice melt in the Andes mountains.
